A place beyond tired

Running on empty

So what did you do this week that wore you out or used your energy up? Hands up who feels pooped?

Perhaps you took the dog for an 8 mile walk, ran round the park with the kids, had back to back meetings at work, had a house full of visitors, perhaps you partied till 3am.

What if you just got out of bed? Literally put your feet on the floor and got out of bed. What if the sheer energy required to get up in the morning used up every ounce of energy you had left? Sounds far fetched?

That’s the reality faced by people who have chronic fatigue on a daily basis. Energy levels have fallen so low, well below being popped, well below being shattered and there’s just no way to re charge the battery. Nothing you do tops up the energy levels. Something is very broken.

The tiredness is an all-consuming, bone aching tiredness, a body completely not functioning tiredness.

You made it out of bed but now you need to make it to the bathroom and get dressed. This could take some time.

Let’s not even consider the option of washing hair. Dry shampoo is an amazing invention.

Now imagine you have to go to work for the next 8 hrs!

When you’re running on empty and beyond empty you now have to attempt to fully take part in the rest of the world. Everything everyone else does with not too many problems, you have to do with absolutely nothing left in the tank.

So let’s drive to work, let’s take the lift, it doesn’t save you energy, you’re on zero, but it stops you dropping further into negative energy. You can’t afford to end the day on -20 energy as you have to get out of bed tomorrow and do it all again. Because today is only MONDAY…

My next blog: chronic fatigue and brain fog.
